I Will

I will choose distance over disrespect.

I will choose peace over drama.

I will choose one over many.

I will choose health over wealth.

I will choose honesty over betrayal.

I will choose patience over haste.

I will choose faith over doubts.

I will choose tears over a shallow smile.

I will choose truth over fake promises.

I will choose respect over ego.

I will choose trust over blame.

I will choose you over me.

I will choose love over everything else.

Dear Best Friend

Dear best friend…
You have been next to me for so long,
From day one of being what I was born to be;
A blank page; perhaps a lingering scent…

Dear best friend,
You have seen my scars, felt my pain:
Along with me, you stayed;
Caressed, cursed, loved and
Whispered tales to me in the end.

We have felt similar heartbreaks,
Heard the same lies,
Felt the same hurt,
Made the same sacrifices and blunders…
You have loved as deep as I have,
Cared as much as I have, and
Healed as little as I have…
You are as broken as I am!
For YOU are inside me…
My actual best friend;
My very own self, shadow, and reflection…

Dear best friend,
You have always been right;
And I have always ignored your signs.
I have always belittled your insights
While the Universe has you and I aligned.

Dear best friend,
My inner self and harmony
When everything else is on fire…
My first love, my last hope,
My intuition, my strength, my dear;
My pal for life, myself - so unique and dear!

Dear best friend,
Thank you for being You.
For being all ears and eyes and
Everything else you have been.
Thank you for being my diary, journal, my
slam book,
Thank you for inspiring me to
Write poetry and cook!
Thank you for helping me be the best of myself:
Thank you for being the ray of hope,
And the light in the darkness, a hand I can hold.

Dear best friend,
I am sorry you were sometimes ignored,
Hated, shouted at, broken, and scarred.
I am sorry at times.
I didn't hold on,
For not moving on or letting go of that hurt.

Dear best friend,
Let us start fresh, a new beginning indeed
Coz' you are the only one I need -
You are the only one with me
Till the end and beyond…

Uketamo

Uketamo means “I humbly accept with an open heart.” Uketamo is a Japanese Wabi Sabi Philosophy to live by. The core of their ideology is the essence of acceptance to the core. It is a doctrine followed by the Yamabushi monks who dwell in Dewa Sanzan, a mountain range in northern Japan. They believe, the faster you accept all the good and bad life tosses at you, the lighter you will feel.

Oh, God,
Grant me the wisdom
To accept the things I can not change,
Grant me the courage
To alter the things I can.

Oh God,
Grant me the insight
To know the difference between right and wrong
Grant me the perception to face challenges
That life throws at me
And accept all the good and bad things.
Grant me my freedom
To find the path to growing up
Which puts a stop to all suffering

Oh God,
Grant me the opportunity
To learn and expand from struggles
Grant me the sagacity to deal with
The inevitable realities of downfall
Grief, worry, and loneliness
Grant me the knowledge to abide
The imperfect flow of life
And find peace in
What is right here in?

Oh God,
Grant me the intuition to know
How weak I am when in greedy
How powerful and blessed when in devotion
Grant me espionage,
To give from the finite
Then to receive from the infinite.

Oh God,
Let me relax and go with the surge,
Let me stay calm, strong, and steady…

Broken

It seems like things are fine
But I am broken inside.

It seems like life is changing
But it's stuck so hard.

It appears that clouds are raining
But they are crying in pain.

It seems you are mine
But I am feeling alone.

It seems like everything is perfect
But it has its flaws.

It seems we are together
But I am falling apart.

It appears to be a new beginning
But the past is haunting me.

It appears to be a sunrise.
But it's still too dark.

A Little Note

Send me a little note,
A little note of love.
A little word of prayer,
A wish that would last!

A note of love can make
Everything looks and feels like a piece of cake;
Send me a note that states,
How dear I am to you, mate!

Let me be your fiction,
Or your daily dose of caffeine!
Let me be the muffin,
On a cold Sunday morning!

Write me a note that reads -
"You are what any friend needs"...
One line of gratitude, appreciation, glee,
One line on our mischievous deeds!

I am each one you left behind
Running ahead in the rat race…
We are all guilty chasing life
Leaving memories behind, letting them fade!

I know we don't talk often,
Does that mean anything at all?
Remember me in between clock hours,
Let time and pace heal what's between us!

Send me a little note,
A little letter of love…
A fraction of a second, you allot
Could make me smile a lot!

I'll send you a little note
"I love you," I'd quote…

You And I

You give me strength;
You give me power.
You gave me the courage
To pour like a shower.
You hold me tight
when I am about to fall.
You push me forward
To overcome my flaws.

You show me the path
When it’s too dark.
You touch my soul
And leave a mark.

Your eyes have the shine
I am ready to hold.
You become the sun
When the night is too long.

You cover me like a shadow
When life acts like a storm.
Your trust is my bridge
To conquer my fear.

Your touch is my feeling,
Whether I am far or near.
Your love is my wings
To fly through life.
Your existence is the reason
I am alive.

The Deluge

The sky was murky
With monsoon clouds
Dark green was the jungle
To receive a warm rain.

Arrived at the first shower
Flowers bend with the wind
Whipping the raindrops,
To my sleepless nights.

Rain starts singing a lullaby
Rain plays a little sleep hymn
Let's walk in the rain
Barefooted, bare-legged
Get wet in the rain,
Get drenched in the woods,
Moved about in the drizzling.

Let's smile like an umbrella,
Which never goes up.
Let's snigger in joy,
Like a toddler,
With a face full of charm.

A tear made a hole in the stone,
Sky banked with clouds,
Thunder rolled down from the hills,
The roof was leaking,
A swift hiss carried away the pebbles.

The river was swollen,
And crept over to the bank,
The world transformed,
As a vast river.

I saw a little boat
Moving swiftly down the river
It was full of hope
Stroking smoothly, rhythmically.

Life Is

Life is a mystery;
See through the glass -
Yellow so bright, brown so not,
Moulded into fine art that speak
Volumes of human legacy…
Good, bad, ugly;
Godmen of diminishing values -
Rituals that are sworn by cultures
So vast and surreal:
Too deep rooted and strong;
As true as the stars they seem.

Blurred are visions of success,
Fine values, morals, etiquette,
Basic courtesy, leave alone
Love, compassion and true passion.
It is as though no one cares anymore
Of what truly matters.
All is a sham, all is a scam -
Life has become more of
Fake laughs, pouts, emotions,
Reels, scripts and lessons…
More power to those who
Break these slowly emerging
Shackles of destructive future
And bring forth light of faith,
Joy, trust, belief and love.

These souls heal this world
And sow seeds of goodness
That reep wellness and
Peace and everything nice…
They are real heroes
Perhaps not seen on screens!
Life, like everything else
Is an amalgam of both
Fair and not, good and bad.
Eyes that see and hearts that feel
Shall witness the essence of
The purpose and time…

The World Is Yours

Open your eyes and embrace
The sweet scent of an early morning.
Start your day with a vision so strong,
A passion that keeps you running.

Empower your spirits,
Stand strong, arms wide open;
Showcase your prowess, be vocal:
Make your move, take your step,
Keep your pace, you're still in the race…
It's you vs you: Your
Mission to take them by storm!

The world is a small place;
Your name engraved on each cloud
In the sands of time it's written:
Make your dream a vision for others;
The dream which to achieve, you were born.

The world is a kaleidoscope
With dreams and visions so scattered.
Pick up small pieces and solve the maze,
Reach your goal, because that's what matters!
Hold your horses, face the storm:
Call them by name, stay strong;
You're about to witness great
Power, great perseverance, a great You,
Coz' the world indeed is Yours!

The world is yours, engrave your name
In the air that generations after you shall breathe.
Stay awake, welcome the heat;
Sweat a little and feel the beat -
Nothing shall deter your success or speed
Mysteries and miracles are all you need…
